Storm Water Management Plan

In response to concern over the pollution in America's waterways, Congress passed the Clean Water Act (CWA) in 1972. The CWA is the primary federal law that protects our waters. Camp Verde occupies a rare and enviable position among Arizona cities and towns; it is a desert community having a permanent river. Portions of the Verde River are designated as wild and scenic and it supports habitat for endangered fish, birds, and plants.

The Town of Camp Verde must receive a Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) permit from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) to discharge storm water into the Verde River and its tributaries. Part of the MS4 permitting process requires the Town to submit a Storm Water Management Plan to ADEQ. The Town completed the plan in December 2003. Preventing storm water pollution is one way of protecting the water quality of the Verde River.

Construction Activities
All construction activity that impacts one acre or more, must submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) to ADEQ before any land clearing begins. The following link provides information about required ADEQ permits. http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/water/permits/links.html
