Department Responsibilities
The Town of Camp Verde Building Department is
charged with the processing and issuance of all Building Safety and Zoning
Clearance permits for all property located within the Town Limits. Permits
for buildings and structures are required by law, in all areas of the Town. The
Building Department can be reached at (928) 567-8514.

Commercial
Building Policy:
These are the policies the Town of Camp Verde will follow:
A. Wind Shear – Will be based on 90 mile per hour winds. Exposure C
B. Seismic Zone C
C. Weathering - Moderate
D. Winter Design Temp - 20°. No ice barrier underlayment required
E. Roof Snow Load – 20 pounds per square foot. No drift requirements
F. Termite - Moderate to Heavy
G. Live Load - 40 pounds per square foot
H. Dead Load – 10 pounds per square foot
I. Drainage – 4 inches per hour
J. Frost Depth - 12 inches
K. Flood Hazards - Refer to Floodplain Unit of Yavapai County
L. Air Freezing Index - 194
M. Mean Annual Temp - 53°
What is a Building Permit?
A building permit is a license, which grants legal permission to start construction of a building within the incorporated area of the Town of Camp Verde. Permit Applications
What is a Zoning Clearance?
A zoning clearance is required for the placement of Multi-Sectional or Manufactured Homes in the incorporated area of the Town of Camp Verde. A zoning clearance is also required for perimeter fencing, signage and accessory structures of 200 square feet or less.
What Construction Projects Need Building/Zoning Clearance Permits?
Building/Zoning permits are typically required for the following, but is not a complete list of projects that require a permit:
Permits allow the enforcement of the codes, which have been adopted as law, by the Town. No matter what the specific project may be, enforcement of the codes is for the safety and welfare of the public.
Building permits provide the means for Code Officials to protect us by reducing the potential of unsafe construction and provide the means for Code Officials to inspect construction to see that minimum standards are met and appropriate materials are used to ensure public safety and welfare.
Important Information for permit applicants:
Applicants assume all responsibility for
complying with any deed restrictions (CC&R) that may apply to a subject
property.
Applicants agree to build in accordance with all applicable codes
and town ordinances, as well as any other applicable local, state or federal
requirements.
Applicants
building either a residential structure or a commercial structure
and disturbing one acre or more are required by the Arizona
Department of Environmental Quality to submit a
Notice of Intent (NOI). Click here

Applicants assume responsibility for
requesting inspections to ensure permits do not expire, which includes providing at least 24-hours
notice of such request to the Building Department.
Contractors are required to hold a valid contractor's license
issued by the State of Arizona Registrar of
Contractors and a valid
business license issued by the Town of Camp Verde.
Permit applications submitted
to the Building Department become void after
180 days. Deposits are non-refundable.
Construction authorized by a permit must commence within 180 days of
its issuance or the permit becomes void.
Construction authorized by a permit that is
suspended or abandoned for 180 days will cause such permit to become void.
Written requests for a one-time extension may be granted by the Building
Official if the applicant can demonstrate justifiable cause.
No building or structure shall be used or occupied, and no change in the existing occupancy classification shall be made until the Building Official has issued a Certificate of Occupancy.
