Good Evening Mayor, Council, Town Staff, Fellow Commissions, and the Community

My Name is Sarah Westervelt and I am one of the eleven active Youth Commission members for the Town of Camp Verde. The others members are Seairah Ebert, Casey Nelson, Autumn Clark, Jessica Miles, Luis Aguayo, Jonthan Hughes, Joshua Hughes, Ryan Brown, Taylor Rezzonico and Devin Westervelt. Tonight I have a packet for the Town Council that has the 3 Youth Commissions meeting agendas and a copy of each commission member’s application and commission interests.  Feel free to read over those at your leisure. To make my appearance brief I will only be reporting on the highlights of each of our meetings. 

Our first meeting was held on September 27, 2007. We talked about our purpose as a group.  Each member was able to give a thought on what our purpose is and here is what we came up with,

“Youth Commission is to allow the youth of Camp Verde the opportunity to be heard and called upon as representatives for their Community.”

Our Second meeting we talked about our first group activity, which was the teen Halloween dance during the Trick or Treat Main Street Event.  Also during the event we took and sold pictures of families in our haunted graveyard that we created at the Parks & Recreation.  This event was a real community friendly event that the Youth Commission enjoyed taking part in.  Jessica Miles and Autumn Clark were that two that helped put on the event.   

At our third meeting we had established a list of Projects or activities that our Youth Commission would like to take on.  Things like a BMX track, talent show, sports tournaments, drive in movie night, and pictures with santa.  We also talked about a trip that our group would like to take together to the movies.  All these and more are to come from our commission. We want the best for the community and we are willing to do the best for our community.
